  • ribbidhui do u have any tips on drawing a living object? like live sketching idk i forgot what's it called hahah i remember reading it long ago that said practice! i agree 100% on that but seriously how do u capture a single moment on the sketchbook when the creature moves around? like when you're not even finished with the markings and nose&mouth and it ran off, do u just fill it from memory or..?? this is a really weird question though sorry!!! i admire your work so so much keep up the good work!!!
  • It’s not weird don’t worry haha. Thank you!!

I guess the trick when drawing fast moving animals is to watch and do the simplest sketch just to capture the shape. No details really, so don’t focus on markings or even the head, the head can just be a shape like a thin rectangle for a deer or a more square shape if it’s a big cat etc. The focus is on the movement and overall shape such as the position of legs, the shape of its back, the position of its head. I find a normal non-mechanical pencil or even a colouring pencil is useful because it makes you just focus on big marks and the shape.

For example i draw these goats from life and all i was trying to capture was the shape and structure so there aren’t many lines and no markings. You have to remember to look away from your sketchbook and really look at the animal.

And then once you have the very basic sketch you can add details/markings if you want or move onto drawing it again. But it really helps to closely look at the animal before drawing. Hope that kind of helps! :))

I don’t understand why when we destroy something created by man we call it vandalism, but when we destroy something created by nature we call it progress.
